In April of 2018 Maryland state law enforcement and health officials met with other advocates to discuss the five-year Maryland Strategic Highway Safety Plan to reduce car accident deaths and injuries
Attention to the issue is needed because car accidents kill more people yearly in the state than homicides and Baltimore is one of the most accident prone cities in the country.
Officials at the April summit determined that the most common cause of car accidents in the state are commonly caused by impaired driving due to drugs or alcohol; distractions such as cell phone use; inattention and failure to use seatbelts. A previous study conducted by the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey (NMVCCS) determined that driver's inattention and distractions such as texting accounts for 41% of auto accidents. Other common causes include decisional errors such as driving too fast for conditions and making false assumption of others' actions, illegal maneuvering and misjudgments.
If you or a family member has been injured in a car accident caused by a driver who has made any one of these errors Baltimore Accident Center is here to help. We will fight to make ensure the responsible person is held accountable.
